1. Visit your preset settings

Find a preset tab in the top menu when signed into your dashboard.

2. Create a preset

If you have an existing preset you want to customize, click on the title and skip ahead to step 3.

Use the blue "+" icon in the top right corner to get started. Then give your preset a unique title (participants won't see this) and choose to set up a Virtual Booth.

You can always change the title later if you need!

Click the Gallery button to continue.

3. Set up your gallery's basic settings

Pictures taken with your preset will be sent to the online gallery you pair it with.

Most people pair their preset with a brand new gallery. In certain circumstances, you may want to copy or re-use an existing gallery. We'll have you create a new gallery now, and you can learn more about the other options below.

Give your gallery a title (participants will see this!) and add a hashtag if you'd like. All the settings on this page can be adjusted again later, so we're going to cover them in Step 3, the next article.

Click "create" to save your gallery, and you'll be brought to your preset settings page.

4. Customize your settings

The preset page allows you to control the booth settings and picture customizations. Settings are separated into different sections as described below.

Get more information about each panel at the links beneath the headers.

Branding Virtual Booth

Participant Access

This section includes a tool to open and close the booth so that you can shut off access when you are ready.

You'll also find your share URL and QR code in this top panel. Distribute either via email or posted online, or print the QR code to display on physical signage.

Participant Data

Available on Standard and Pro plans

Collect email addresses, phone numbers, and names from participants. Participants will be prompted to enter this information before they can capture or add their picture.

Age Gate

Available on Pro plan

Ensure participants are of a certain age before using your booth.

Branding Basics

Participants will land on your splash page after opening your link or scanning your QR code. Add some welcome text, and customize this page with your desired font color and a logo.

Branding Backgrounds

The splash page supports some other adjustments as well. Choose from a color wheel to add a solid or gradient background, or upload your own file to make a more custom homepage.

Picture Customizations

Virtual Booth currently supports one layout type, a 1x1 image with a square crop.

Photo Editing

Overlays

Upload multiple overlays, which participants can place on top of their images.

Background Replacement

Magically remove the background from participant photos (no green screen required!).

Use multiple backgrounds and set the replacement option to either optional or required. When the background is required, Virtual Booth will "force" replacement.

Background replacement consumes additional credits.

Stickers

Participants can add custom stickers to their pictures when this feature is enabled. The stickers can be manually placed and re-sized.

Virtual Booth Credits

Virtual Booth use will consume credits, which are included in all HALO subscriptions. How many credits you should expect to consume depends mainly on how many uploads you anticipate making. In addition to that,

  • Each regular photo (no background replacement) consumes one credit.

  • Photos taken with magic background replacement consume two credits.

  • Retakes when background replacement is enabled consume an additional credit. The event average is 3 credits per participant when background replacement is in use.

We will warn you via email when you are running low. Purchase a block in order to get more credits. Upgrading to a higher tier plan or adding another license will not immediately add more credits to your account.

Credits are not consumed with the HALO iPad app, which supports unlimited uploads while your subscription is active.

You are ready to finish customizing your gallery
