AI Effects Overview

Written by Emily Devlin

AI Effects let you transform photos, layouts, and screens using built-in artificial intelligence tools and is available for both the HALO app and Virtual Booth.

Find more information and setup instructions for each option in the articles linked below.

AI Effects Use Account Credits

Certain AI Effects are powered by account credits. For usage information, refer to the article for the specific AI feature you’re using, linked below.

Testing and refining AI effect prompts does not use credits. Credits are only used when the AI effect is actively run during a live session.

For more information, including pricing, see the Account Credits article.

Use AI to Customize Settings

AI can be used in your settings to customize your photos and the start screen without designing something from scratch.

Use AI to help design the graphic elements on your layout. This affects the visual design of the final layout rather than changing the people in the photo.

Examples include:

  • Adding or enhancing a logo

  • Creating stylized borders or frames

  • Generating themed design elements

AI tools will also support generating custom start screens — the screen shown when the app is idle and ready for the next participant or group.

More details will be available once this feature is released, and the process will be similar to generating layout images.

Post-Capture AI Effects are applied after pictures are taken to transform the photo itself, which happens automatically when the photo is taken. Post-capture AI Effects are available in HALO and Virtual Booth.

Choose from a public library of pre-made prompts, or write your own.

These effects can:

  • Alter the overall style of the image

  • Apply artistic transformations

  • Modify the appearance of people in the photo

Allow participants to personalize their photo results by making selections after capture. Their selection, made after capture but before the AI version processes directly affects how the AI processes their photo.

For example, participants may choose:

  • A style option or theme

  • A visual variation
