All camera adjustments should be made as you are setting up your booth on site; not at your home or office while you are preparing your settings.

In order to achieve optimal results, in addition to the settings below you should also consider adjusting your light source or even the booth's location if there is harsh overhead lighting, a nearby window, etc.

Lighting

Simple Booth recommends having a light source for your booth under all circumstances. The quality of your pictures is a direct result of how well-lit the environment is.

Accessing Camera & Screen Settings

All settings described below will be accessed through your Mission Control page from the Adjustments tab.

Camera Settings

All settings will be adjusted with a slider tool, and certain settings can be "locked" with a button.

Exposure

Exposure affects how light or dark your photos are. We recommend adjusting the in-app exposure together with the brightness of your lighting to find a sweet spot.

If the the lighting at the venue will change in any way during the event (for example, if the event is going from day to night), we recommend checking on these settings throughout the event to make sure all the pictures are well lit.

Locking Exposure

In most circumstances you want to leave exposure unlocked to allow for slight fluctuations in lighting between sessions.

Locking exposure should only be done in circumstances where the lighting will be very constant.

White Balance

White balance affects color temperature or how warm (yellow) or cool (blue) the picture appears. Learn more here.

White balance typically does not need to be adjusted, but if your pictures are skewing yellow or blue, you can use this tool to compensate. You must enable the manual toggle before adjusting white balance.

Screen Settings

Digital Zoom

Using the camera zoom can be helpful in scenarios where the space you are setting up in does not offer a lot of flexibility for where your booth (and backdrop if applicable) can be placed. Fine-tune your framing so things look just right!

Level

Open the level tool while setting up your booth to make sure your camera is not tilted left or right. The leveler will change from red to yellow when your iPad is perfectly level.

Start Screen Transparency

Adjust the opacity of your "Tap To Start Booth" screen. You can go totally opaque, completely transparent, or somewhere in between based on your preference.

Gallery Preview

The gallery preview shows recent public photos from your current gallery. Once your gallery contains a handful of photos, the preview will activate when the start screen of your booth doesn't detect any faces in the frame for a period of time.

The preview is dismissed when the booth detects a face or when the screen is tapped. The preview is automatically disabled when your gallery is private.
